Renowned Mexican distiller Hacienda La Capilla has unveiled his unique Diamond Sterling tequila, which is quite literally a prized drink. The tequila in encased in a bottle studded with 4,100 diamonds and 2.3 kg of platinum and is said to be worth $3.5 million.
Designer Fernando Altamirano is hopeful that the bottle will break a Guinness World Record. The designer was featured in the headlines recently, after designing the world's most expensive water bottle. In March, he sold his 24-karat gold bottle for $60,000. The bottle contained water from springs in France, Fiji and a glacier in Iceland.
And now for a little celebrity tittle-tattle: rocker Courtney Love is being sued by New York celebrity jeweler Jacob & Co, who claims the singer has not returned nearly $114,000 worth of borrowed gems.
The diamond dealer alleges that Love borrowed two white gold and diamond chains, a white gold, floral-design mesh bracelet and a pair of white gold and diamond pave hoop earring, but has only returned the bracelet, saying she had lost the rest.
Jacob & Co's lawyer said the jeweler's agreement with Love specified that she would be responsible for the gems "regardless of loss or damage." The company is seeking either the jewelry or their monetary equivalent.
Love's representatives were unavailable for comment.
