Israeli diamond industry to enjoy new online buyers' system

The Israel Diamond Institute has launched a new online system, which offers an innovative and effective way to manage diamond buyers' information.

The system, developed by the Israel Diamond Institute's information technology department, aims to broaden international buyers' access to the wide array of products offered by diamond suppliers in the Israeli diamond industry.

The online system was introduced by IDI portal manager Orna Chait at the Hong Kong International Jewelry exhibition held last week, in which over 75 Israeli diamond companies took part.

"The new system is based on real-time, online information," said Nissim Palomo, IDI's chief marketing officer. "Once buyers arrive in one of the seven annual international exhibitions the Diamond Institute is featured in, instead of leaving a business card in every diamond supplier's booth, they can just enter their contact information and requirements into the system, and the information is sent to all the diamantaires present.

"This way, the buyers can distribute their demands online, ensuring they won't miss any Israeli supplier present at the show. This is a faster, innovative way of conducting business, while preserving the Israeli diamond industry's tradition of offering innovative trading and services," he added.

When buyers log into the system, it asks them to choose the appropriate category: diamond importers, diamond producers, diamond merchants or jewelers.

Buyers are then asked to specify their diamond needs, and are given the option to choose by clarity, cut, carat, color and finish.

The system also allows buyers to define search terms for fancy diamonds, and offers various online solutions for buyers seeking gemstones. Diamond Buyer system

Once the information is entered, the system can immediately match buyers with Israeli diamantaires who can meet their needs. The new online system also stores the buyers' information, distributing it among Israeli diamond suppliers, and facilitating buyers in finding the diamond supplier best suited for their needs.

"The new online system provides online information on buyers' demands," said Chait. "Once the information is entered into the system, Israeli diamantaires get an immediate online alert about a buyer looking for specific merchandise and they can meet them during the show."

The online system also allows buyers who are not physically present at a certain show to enter their information and be included in the list of buyers available to Israeli diamond suppliers, as well as enjoy a wide range of diamonds and the Israeli diamond industry's trademark quality service.
